New Release of UBmatrix Report Builder Extends XBRL Support for U.S. SEC
and U.K. HMRC Mandates

UBmatrix Raises the Bar for XBRL Desktop Filing Tools

REDWOOD CITY, CA – April 21, 2010 – UBmatrix, Inc., the leading provider of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) software solutions, announced today the immediate availability of UBmatrix™ Report Builder release 3.6, a desktop tool for creating, interacting with, and validating XBRL documents. UBmatrix Report Builder builds on the experienced gained working with partners such as SAP, and systems integrators such as Keane Federal Systems (contractor to the SEC) to include new capabilities of benefit to U.S. SEC filers and U.K. HM Revenue and Customs filers. These capabilities include EDGAR Filer Manual Validation, Detailed Tagging and Inline XBRL (iXBRL) Support.

In 2009, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission adopted a rule that requires public companies to submit XBRL documents along with their quarterly, annual, and other public filings. Under the rule, about 500 of the largest companies began filing XBRL documents last summer. By this summer all large accelerated filers will be required to submit XBRL documents and by next summer, all remaining filers using US GAAP, including smaller reporting companies and all foreign private issuers that prepare their financial statements in accordance with IFRS as issued by the IASB will be required to file XBRL documents. In addition, the U.K. HM Revenue and Customs has mandated that all companies (approximately 1.7 million) will have to submit their annual tax filings in iXBRL beginning in April 2011.

The UBmatrix Report Builder solution, combined with Microsoft® Excel and Microsoft® Word, provides an intuitive desktop environment that enables the creation, interaction with, and validation of XBRL documents including XBRL versions of companies’ 10-Q and 10-K. UBmatrix Report Builder leverages the familiar user interface of Microsoft Excel, enabling users to easily prepare, review, and analyze data in XBRL documents. The solution embraces the workflows finance and compliance departments already use when preparing SEC reports or HMRC filings. Because Report Builder is built upon UBmatrix’s industry-leading XBRL processing engine, users can verify on the desktop that the document is XBRL valid.

With this release, UBmatrix Report Builder adds new features (including Windows 7 support) specifically designed to help companies manage and comply with the U.S. SEC and U.K. HMRC mandates for reporting in XBRL:

EDGAR Filing Manual Validation – Section 6 of the EDGAR Filer Manual entitled “Interactive Data” details a litany of requirements that apply to submitted XBRL reports and company extensions of the US GAAP taxonomy. Bundled with Report Builder 3.6, are a set of XBRL Formulas that offers validation against EDGAR Filer Manual requirements to help ensure the document will be accepted by the EDGAR system. Listed by section number, Report Builder produces a validation report indicating whether the XBRL instance and taxonomy extensions pass or fail each of the sections tested. For those tests that fail, useful explanations are provided to help to fix the problem.

Detailed Tagging in Microsoft Word – Disclosures are a key part of financial and compliance reporting. Given the narrative nature of this information, many organizations author and review this content in Microsoft Word. Consistent with the way Report Builder allows tagging of block text in Word, Report Builder now recognizes numeric detail facts tagged in a linked Word document and automatically compose them together with information authored in Microsoft Excel to produce a complete XBRL document.

Inline XBRL Support – Report Builder 3.6 now offers the ability to quickly and easily save your XBRL report in iXBRL format. iXBRL is an enhancement currently being added to the XBRL specification which designed to make XBRL both machine- and human-readable. Already being adopted by the U.K. HM Revenue and Customs Service, iXBRL embeds XBRL data inside an HTML document that can be viewed in any web browser.
